At least for a couple of shows in the Northeast, along with the Bouncing Souls and Latex Generation (they're still around?). ----- Former Dismemberment Plan members - Joe Easley, Eric Axelson, and Jason Caddell - have formed a new group called Statehood that will have a new album out as soon as their real jobs allow them to. ----- The Rolling Stones current tour A Bigger Bang is officially the highest grossing tour with currently $437 million, surpassing U2's Vertigo Tour. RS might add to this number in 2007. But, this is hiding info like the fact that RS take time off between shows for various things like brain surgery, so it's only vaguely continuous. ----- The Eagles of Death Metal have dropped off supporting Guns N' Roses after only one show due to the crowd's reaction and Axl Rose's comments. The best though is Jesse Hughes' statement about dropping off: At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow, it had become paradise city. Doherty was arrested this weekend for possession of crack (what else would it be?). ----- The Game was also arrested recently for impersonating an undercover police officer in NYC - had a cabbie run a bunch of lights as such. ----- Triple Lindy Yes! Explosions in the Sky are coming out with their new record this winter entitled All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone. A tour will follow in March. The record also has a bonus edition featuring remixes by Jesu, Adem, The Paper Chase, Mountains, Four Tet, and Eluvium. Week of 9/18 The comeback band of the year, Lifetime, is set to release a two-song single on Decaydance on November 21st. After their short tour, Lifetime will suit up for a new full-length. Rock! ----- The Militia Group has signed Chase Pagan. ----- Avenged Sevenfold has cancelled their UK-tour next month in order to work on a new record. ----- Pete Doherty has gotten off the floor long enough to record a cover of the Clash's "Janie Jones" with former Libertines' member Carl Barat. ----- Look for Sondre Lerche's new record in February called Phantom Punch on Astralwerks. ----- The Daily Show has selected Superchunk to headline their 10th anniversary show at Irving Plaza in NYC on November 16th. Also playing is Clem Snide, the Upper Crust, and another band to be announced. ----- Pluto Records has signed NC's Bloodjinn. ----- In the ongoing struggle, Victory Records has countersued Hawthorne Heights for breach of contract and libel against the label. HH had sued Victory in August over royalties and malicious advertising (see below). Victory states HH is just motivated by greed and that the band still 'owes' them two studio records. In addition, Victory is seeking a cease-and-desist order against Virgin Records who are reportedly courting HH. This is getting entertaining. ----- After Universal suggested it might sue YouTube and Myspace for copyright last week, Warner Group has made a deal with YouTube to show videos of artists on the site. Your move Sony. ----- Willie Nelson (and friends) got busted in Louisana for possessing 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and 2/10 of shrooms after they were pulled over for a traffic stop. Nelson should have just said that the crazy smell was just the van's biodiesel engine. ----- I didn't even know Brand New was still around, but they're releasing a new record on Interscope and touring with Dashboard.
