Chicago, IL - Cincinnati based Carbon Copy Media has entered into an exclusive, long-term distribution and upstream pact with Victory Records on a worldwide basis. JT Woodruff, Founder of Carbon Copy Media and lead singer for Victory recording Artist Hawthorne Heights said, "Working with Tony and Victory will allow our artists to grow beyond any and all expectations. Starting this label and music media company has been a dream of mine for a very long time. I am very happy that Victory and I always share the same passion and vision. Our first two bands are Cincinnati's own Ellison, and Crown Point, Indiana's Asteria. Expect big things from these bands come May, as well as a few other exciting releases from the Carbon Copy Media/Victory family.”

“One of the reasons Hawthorne Heights has been successful is because they talk to, care about and truly interact with their fans online and before and after every performance,” says Victory’s Tony Brummel. “JT makes himself very accessible. As the singer of one of the biggest rock bands in America he is also very noticeable. Every day he gets a tremendous amount of music that he enthusiastically listens to. A&R happens on the street and JT is on the street every day. If the bands do well with JT they will have the opportunity to be uplifted to Victory. Hawthorne Heights’ current album is the third longest running rock album on the Top 200. Obviously, that has happened for a reason. We are expanding our collective passion and that is a very special thing to be a part of.”

LOS ANGELES (December 9, 2005) -- Gorillaz, the world's most successful virtual band, have teamed with the first global multi-platform digital media company, Network LIVE, to bring fans access to an extremely rare opportunity – a live Gorillaz experience. The international cast of musicians that appeared on the award-winning 'Demon Days' performed the album in its entirety to sold-out crowds on November 1 - 5, 2006 at the Manchester Opera House in Manchester, England. Through Network LIVE, for the first time these unique visuals will be broadcast and made available for viewing by Gorillaz fans.

"Gorillaz fans live their lives online, are incredibly savvy, and forward thinking about digital entertainment, and so delivering the live experience over digital platforms made perfect sense," said Noodle from Gorillaz. "Because our fans are so progressive, and live Gorillaz experiences so rare, we are excited to give our fans access to demon days live through Network LIVE, a company that understands how to deliver a unique live experience for a digital culture."

Each song is accompanied by unique animation and illustrations. The encores include never-before-seen footage of the late Ibrahim Ferrer (Buena Vista Social Club) performing "Latin Simone," from Gorillaz self-titled debut. Additionally, the crowd was treated to the first and only live performance to date of "Hong Kong," from the War Child benefit album 'Help: A Day In The Life,' which was released this year.

Statement from Gabe Borquez from Versus the Mirror about the murder in Tuscon:

Greetings Everyone. My name is Gabe and I play guitar in a band called Versus The Mirror. I write to everyone in a complete state of disbelief. There was a shooting at a hardcore show (Hoods, Shattered Realm, Donnybrook) here in Tucson, AZ that resulted in a death. The show was held at our main all ages venue and arts center, Skrappys. After a huge fight broke out inside the venue, the brawl kept going outside until shots were fired. A few people were also said to be fighting with hammers. Nuts. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was involved or witnessed this tonight.

I've never really been the type to stand up and speak my mind on issues but this is my hometown and this was my favorite venue. This is where I played my first show as a musician and saw some of the best shows as a fan. This is where I sang along and danced to my favorite bands. This is where everyone came together for the love of music and art. This was the place where everyone who felt out of place in their school or home could come to fit in. To the employees, owners, and kids of Skrappys, this was life and a second home.

The owner of the venue, Kathy has devoted her whole life to building our music and arts community, our "scene," if you would. Her and her husband has sacrificed everything from houses to cars to keep Skrappys open. She has attended countless meetings and hearings with Tucson city officials to get funding so the venue could remain open. Now it could be shut down.

Whatever happened to going to shows because you loved the band and you wanted to support them, whether it be local or a national act. Whatever happened to respect, unity and integrity within the "scene." You shouldn't be going to shows to represent your crew or to inflict pain on everybody. Go to shows because you enjoy the music. That's what it's all about. The music. If it wasn't for the music, there wouldn't be a show for you to model your new spock haircut, your hatebreed jersey with matching army cargos, your greased up pomp, your elitist attitude, your tough guy mentality, your "emo" attire,
and so on and so forth. Remember, the music comes first.

I don't even know anymore. I just hope that Skrappys can stay open. The venue has been the heart and soul of our music and arts scene and it would be a huge loss to everyone in Arizona and to everyone in touring bands. If you think your venue in your hometown sucks, be very appreciative of what you have. Have a good night and be safe. Take care of each other. If you want to show support, hit up Skrappys myspace page and drop them a line. www.myspace.com/skrappys

News about Smoking Popes:

Victory Records is proud to announce a live CD and DVD release for Chicago’s legendary Smoking Popes. The CD and DVD release, title forthcoming, will be released on February 28, 2006 on the number one independent rock label, Victory Records. A North American headlining tour, with support from Victory’s Bayside, is confirmed for February 22 to March 12, 2006 (cities TBA). Vocalist Josh Caterer is thrilled for Smoking Popes to be releasing live material. "We're so excited to be working with Victory. Since they're based in Chicago, we'll really be able to work closely with them. I think it's a great situation for the band."

Smoking Popes have been a staple in the punk and indie rock scenes since the 1990’s, playing a unique blend of up - tempo rock with punk guitars and Brit - pop influenced vocals. “Did you ever hear ‘Born To Quit’? It’s by the Smoking Popes. I thought that album was extraordinary, the most lovable thing I’d heard in years,” raved musical icon Morrissey. Smoking Popes helped shape an entire generation of music fans and wrote the book for Chicago’s indie rock scene. “After Naked Raygun, Chicago was the Smoking Popes,” says Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. “They were Alkaline Trio before Alkaline Trio, they were Fall Out Boy before Fall Out Boy. This band is one of the reasons that Fall Out Boy even exists.” Smoking Popes formed in 1991 and released several albums on independent labels before signing to Capitol Records in 1995. Tours with Green Day, Jimmy Eat World and Jawbreaker soon followed, making Smoking Popes a household name in the mid to late 1990’s indie rock and punk circuits. “The Smoking Popes were a good band that only wrote good songs. They have always been a big influence on Alkaline Trio and are a huge reason a lot of us started bands in the first place,” says Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba.

Smoking Popes disbanded on December 19, 1998, but their die hard fan base and extreme, underground popularity never faltered. A once–in-a-lifetime sold out reunion show at Chicago’s Metro on November 11, 2005 sparked a resurgence in Smoking Popes fans, leaving the crowd yearning for new material. Bayside vocalist Anthony Raneri looks forward to hitting the road with his heroes this winter. “Smoking Popes are one of the most important bands in my life, and probably the most influential in my song writing. To know that they like our band enough to take us on tour is, for me, our greatest accomplishment.” The highly anticipated Smoking Popes release on indie stalwart Victory Records will be a full length live CD and DVD, highlighting the Smoking Popes unforgettable and undeniably emotional live experience.
